Clive Vorris

On Sunday morning, February 12, 2012 our dear father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, C. Vorris was called home following a tragic stroke in American Fork, UT.

Vorris was born on 1/22/22 in Thatcher, AZ to Clive Vernon and Minnie Williams . At age 2, the family moved to San Diego, CA, where Vorris attended Hoover High School and San Diego St. College. Here he established his love of physics and mathematics. His studies were interrupted by America's entry into WWII, and he enthusiastically enlisted as a naval aviator and flew Catalina PBY's in the South Pacific from 1943 to the end of the war. While on leave at home, Vorris met the love of his life, Marian Francis, at a church dance and they were married in the Logan, UT LDS Temple. After the war, he returned to his studies, graduated, and began teaching physics and math at La Jolla High School. After 2 years teaching, he was hired by the Naval Electronics Lab in Pt. Loma as an electrical engineer, and the family settled in the San Diego suburb of El Cajon.

Vorris was valiant in LDS Church service throughout his life, and served in numerous leadership positions, including bishop of the El Cajon 2nd Ward, president of the San Diego East Stake, and director of the LDS Student Assoc. throughout Southern Calif. Following his retirement, he received the call he cherished most, president of the Arkansas Little Rock Mission from 1981 to 1984. Upon returning home, he and Marian decided to move to Bountiful UT to be nearer their girls, Marian's family, and to many of the missionaries they had come to love so much in Arkansas. There, Vorris was called to be a sealer in the Salt Lake Temple, and subsequently in the Bountiful and Mt. Timpanogos Temples. He was privileged to perform weddings for his children, grandchildren, and numerous Arkansas missionaries, among the thousands of others he sealed.

Vorris is survived by his sweetheart of 66 years, Marian, and 6 loving children: Michael (Diane), Elaine (Lowell, dec,), Steven (Laurie), Richard (Tina), Carolyn (Alan), and Kathleen (Jeff). He also leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren who loved and cherished him. He was preceded in death by his sisters Mildred , Maxine , and Geraldine , and his brother Keith.

His life was one of love for his family and the gospel, and one of devoted church service. He truly loved everyone and tried to uplift all those he came in contact with. He loved music and enjoyed singing with Marian at every opportunity. He also had a passion for the world of science and spent many hours in his later years developing his thoughts on the interrelationship of science and religion, and loved to discuss them with all who would listen. We miss you Dad. We'll take care of your stash of dark chocolate.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21st at 11:00 AM in the American Fork 4th Ward building at 455 E. 300 N. A public viewing will be held on Monday evening 2/20/12 from 6PM - 8 PM at the Warenski Funeral Home located at 1776 N. 900 E. American Fork, UT 84003. A public viewing will also be held frpm 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM prior to the funeral at the American Fork 4th Ward Chapel.

Resolutions

Well 2012 started off a little rough for me! I woke up a few days after Christmas and couldn't move my arm! It was severe pain...I went to the dr, ER, and an orthopedic surgeon all within the same week...after xrays and an MRI they discovered I have Calcific Tendonitis and a bone spur..For those of you reading this it doesn't sound that bad right??? Well can I just tell you Carl saw me cry quite a bit and I had SO much sympathy for others who have had similar issues..it took about 2 weeks to start feeling semi normal again thankfully to the medications. It was the longest 2 weeks of my life.. It was worse than having a baby by far. My mom has had surgery on both shoulders for this and I have so much more sympathy for her. I guess my genetics are following her! But needless to say I am feeling quite normal again! This leads me into my New Years Resolutions since I couldn't even think of them before :)

1...Eat out less! I on most weeks eat out on average 3 times a week. Usually a lunch with friends or family, date night with Carl, and a lunch on the go, plus usually a pizza night on the weekend. Really it is too much and I am going to cut it to the most 1-2 times a week. It will help me save on my budget and my waist. I got invited recently to a friends Bday lunch. I wanted to go but had used all my eating out budget and it was my new resolution. So I dropped by and said Happy Birthday and chatted for a bit and left. I didn't eat and was so proud of myself :)

2...I love creating budgets. I am the financial girl in the house and handle the bills etc. I love it! I however am not the best at sticking to my budget. I am a cash only ( except gas ) girl and have a certain amount for groceries, eating out, school lunch, haircuts, clothes, etc...my goal this year is to not go over and when the cash is gone it's gone! I'm doing good so far :) I altered some categories that I kept going over on ( like groceries) I also added a budget for Me! I haven't done this before but now I can get my hair done, buy some jeans, buy makeup or whatever I feel like and not take it out of another category. I'm excited about
that!

3...I don't know about you but I always am aware of how I feel about my clothes being too tight and being up on the scale. The holidays are a killer for me. With our cruise, thanksgiving, Carls Bday, Christmas, the cabin, and New Years my jeans are tight! Why is this such a plague for women? I wish we could just eat what we want, not exercise and look like Jennifer Aniston, but the reality is we can't. The way I fit in clothes and look as I'm sitting in the tub pretty much affects EVERY aspect of my life and how I feel on a day to day basis. There is ALWAYS a special occasion. Valentines Day, Birthdays, Date nights, etc... I am going to eat healthier..not only for my tight jeans trama but for my energy level and mood. I'm happier when I make good food choices. Will I ever eat perfectly? NO, but I can eat good 80 percent of the time. I bought a 2 year gym pass a few weeks ago that has a daycare and it has been so good for me to take Chase and get an hour workout in when I can't work around Carls schedule. Carl and I have been going Sat. Mornings together with Chase and it is so fun to workout together. No more excuses for me:) 4-5 days a week workout....

4...Be less defensive! I can get fired up sometimes and get opinionated on issues that don't matter.. Also for friends or family I can be defensive as well. I just feel like if something or someone I love is wrongly judged or accused or even mistreated then I am defensive for them. Which isn't a bad thing but can be sometimes. I have a huge problem over analyzing what I say or what people say to me and if they meant what I thought they meant. Bottom line is I need to stop worrying so much about what others think of me and if others like me or not. I am a people pleaser if you will and don't ever want to disappoint or make people sad or hurt in any way! I should care about the things I can control like my own actions and words to please my Savior, My Husband, and my kids. Of course everyone in general but I just need to worry less. Does this make sense? I can be so sensitive sometimes and Carl is so good for me this way to bring me back to reality. I'm so thankful for Carl and how much he loves and cares for me. He is my number one cheerleader and is always on my side. He understands me and puts me in my place if I need to be, but in a loving way. I love that man!!

5...Be optimistic in all I do..not to find the negative in things but only good. To serve others with a non martyr attitude and to be humble.

I am grateful for my many blessings and for the gifts I am given everyday. I owe this all to My Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I hope I can make him proud and to live a little better each day! Here's to a great 2012!!!

During the holidays we had SEVERAL get togethers with both sides of the family. At my mom's side of the family I had a nice chat with my cousin's wife Marianne...I seriously love her. She is a great mom and is insanely hilarious. She has teenagers right now and she told me this quote that I absolutely love...Don't you love nuggets of wisdom here and there? This stuck with me...

"You can choose your actions, but you can't choose your consequences".

Love Love it. So simple but yet applies in every aspect of life almost...

It's been a great year for us!! I thought I would give a little highlight on our family!

Carl~ Did his first Half Marathon in 1.27.. He's a natural runner. He also got to do the Xterra again and was standing next to Lance Armstrong as they were getting their numbers. Enjoyed watching Jimmer, going to the Y football games and still enjoying skiing ( wishing for SNOW)!! Some exciting changes in his Career coming up in the next few months. Should be a fun adventure! He is still serving in Young Men's.

Mel~ It seems as though 5 kids has taken me from Busy to Extrememly busy! Between driving Austin to Jr. High, Ryan to Kindergarten and the other kids I am in the car a lot.Thank goodness for friends who help out! I enjoy watching my kids football, Lacrosse, and basketball games, Kate's gymnastics, and hearing all they are learning on piano! I think laundry is the hardest to keep up with! I managed to train for and complete 2 half marathons and run the last 10 miles of the St. George Marathon with my Sister in Law Bethany. It got me back in shape and is good for me to push myself mentally! I loved going to Arizona in January with my BYU girls, McCall in July, and a cruise with most of Carl's family in November. I live for and love being with my family! I am so lucky to have such good friends and family surrounding me. I am serving as Cubmaster and Nursery Leader in our ward. I am so blessed to be a mother and to be married to my sweet amazing Husband!! Life is good!

Austin (13) ~Is in 7th grade. He is such a great teenager! Yep I have a teenager! Thank goodness he's my first because he is the easiest child. He excels in school and is tutoring 8th grade Algebra. ( he does not get that from me!) he also had a poem that he submitted published in a book. He is also starting to like girls more and more. He even gave a girl a Xmas!
present! He is my child on that subject..he loves playing Lacrosse and Basketball and is still taking piano lessons..it's all about balance right! I keep telling him a girl loves a guy that can play piano! He's loves being with his friends as well!

Blake (11)~ Adores and looks up to Austin. Is obsessed with football ( watching and playing ), basketball, and knows all the stats for most games and knows all the players. He loves playing with friends and is my geography boy. He is mapping out our trip back east for this summer. He is very easy going and is such a tender heart. He is my helper! He does his chores the minute I ask him ( probably so he can play!)

Kate (8) ~ got baptized this year, loves gymnastics and piano, and is my little fashionista! She acts about 18 and thinks she is miss independent. I get a kick out of all of her notes she writes! She is my thoughtful girl and is always taking care of all of us. I just adore her and see so much potential ! She is a reader and blows through books. They all love reading and get that from their father. She loves her friends and is very sensitive of others.

Ryan(5)~ loves kindergarten! He is my boy who loves and thinks he owns my iPad! He loves Chasers and is learning to read. He has a mind of his own and only does things if it's his idea. He still won't ride a bike but will ride a scooter. I am amazed at how each child comes with their own personality!! He will start soccer this coming year and maybe Karate! He is a sweet boy!

Chase(1)~ he is the center of our home. Everyone dotes on Chasers and he can throw the best tantrums.. The sad part is we all think it's so cute. He is my angel and I Love having him in our family. He adores his dad, the dog, and can dance on a dime especially to party rockers...he has the cutest personality!

We lost two important people in our family this year! Uncle Lowell and Gramma Martha. It always leaves a hole in our family and they are missed!

Cruise!!!

Just a week ago Carl and I were enjoying a wonderful cruise to the eastern Caribbean with Carl's family. We had THE best time! This was our very first night at dinner. Everyone wasn't feeling so hot that first night because the Sea was very rough leaving Ft. Lauderdale. I am so thankful I don't get motion sickness. Poor Jinaya and Marsha were so sick. Luckily they were better by the next day. And Jinaya was even better that night after taking Dramamine. She danced the night away with us up Skywalkers...

We hung out after dinner with Trev and Trish and were acting like children spitting out mints off of the boat and watching the wind carry them back on the ship. It was quite entertaining. This only happened the first night because of the rough wind. We played ping pong and the ball would fly where ever it felt like! Trisha is so much fun and hilarious...We met up with Byron and Maranda and Eric and Jinaya to dance for the next few hours..We had a blast...

Next day we were in Princess Cays, Bahamas. We enjoyed the beautiful warm weather by soaking it up, swimming in the beautiful turquoise water, and playing sand volleyball. Here is Trev and Trish

Formal night

Our next island is St. Maarten. We rented 4 wheelers and scooters for this island. Within the first 5 minutes with us in the lead, we lost Ken and Marsha and Cathy. We spent the next hour searching for them. In the end we never found them! We ended up finding a beautiful beach at the very end. Dawn Beach (Westin's private beach) I want to fly back and stay there! It was beautiful. We ate lunch on the bay and Jinaya was a trooper to ride on the back of Eric's scooter! We had a great time. We even saw the missionaries who Byron knew one of them who played soccer with him! Such a small world!

Dinner was always a 3 hour ordeal. We had great conversations and ate great food. Sometimes we would order several different dishes to see which one we liked the most. So spoiled! The very last night we ate at Sabatini's for some yummy Italian food. I had the best spaghetti ever!

Last but not least we went to Grand Turk. Upon arrival is looked SO nice. But as soon as we started driving it was pretty run down. It made me feel so blessed for all that we have...

The only car rental left was an 8 passenger van. So all 12 of us squeezed in. Marsha was such a good sport as I'm sure it was uncomfortable holding me on her lap. Carl was the designated driver. It was strange to drive on the left side of the road. He did a good job and we were all safe. Carl, Trevor and Eric left us at Governor's Beach while they explored the island more. They ended up climbing down cliffs where the lighthouse was and collected these amazing shells. They were ones you see in gift shops.

Chuck was even willing to squish in the trunk.. HILARIOUS!!

The last night we played Scattergories. We had such a funny night. Chuck was on one and was giving the funniest answers, and Cathy was always questioning his answers. We spent about 3 hours playing that day and really had fun. It's one of my favorite games. Some other memorable entertainment moments were The comedian, boring Princess Popstar, the magician, the newlywed game, dancing, party on deck 7 where we did lots of line dancing, and movies under the stars with a downpour (Cowboys and Aliens). I signed up to do a spin class and Carl and I hit the gym a few times. Less than I wanted but hey, walking around the ship was good right?

I love Trisha's face in this. She is trying to be funny. We loved going to the International Cafe around midnight. We loved getting crackers, cheese, and fruit. It was so hard coming home to cooking again. That is the greatest part of a cruise for me is not cleaning or cooking all week. Everything is done for me! Some other funny things I want to remember is "Tender & Precious" and Jinaya and I being walking partners. I'm sad it's over but it's always good to come home to the kids. Shauna (my sister) was a saint and spent the week at my house and took care of all the cooking and cleaning for 10 kids! (Mine plus hers) she deserves a cruise now! Can't wait for our next vacay and would love to go with this group again. They were fabulous!!!

Boys trip to Texas & Austin's 13th Birthday!

Carl surprised the boys for Austin's 13th birthday and told them he was taking them to the BYU/TCU game in Texas. The boys were counting down the minutes until they could leave. They were excited to fly on an airplane since they haven't flown since they were little. Blake was mostly excited to get his very own soda (haha)

They left Friday morning and returned Sat. evening. So it was a short trip but they sure packed in stuff. They went straight to the aquarium.

Could these boys be any cuter. I love that they are so close in age (2 years apart) and such good buddies. They are so easy for me and the sweetest!

Ready to go to the game in the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Carl and the boys said it was unlike any stadium they have ever seen. I am so glad they had a fun time. Austin came home on his birthday and we went to eat At Winger's with the family and then I surprised Austin and Blake and took them to play Laser Tag with Uncle Trevor and Aunt Trish. I think all in all Austin had the best birthday ever (from his mouth)..I love him so very much and am thankful to enter teenage-hood with him as my first. He is the best kid!

Kate turns 8!

Kate turned 8 last summer. I think she had such a great birthday. She got baptized and looked so pretty. I need to find those pictures! We took Kate to Ihop for breakfast. This girl loves Ihop and always wants to go there!

My daughter is one of a kind...I get such a kick out of her. She is often found writing and leaving notes around the house. Her notes are absolutely hilarious. I have found them to the Tooth Fairy, Me (under my pillow) and Carl...She is so sweet and so thoughtful and yet she knows what she wants! This note was written on cardboard and was set on our bench below our bed with specific instructions for the next morning of her birthday..This is what it reads....

This week Kate left an envelope on the counter addressed to Santa Claus with a return address from us. She wanted me to put a stamp on it and put it in the mail. Well Santa and I are friends so I had to take a look too.. Here is the note I found inside..Carl and I were dying laughing....

The other day Kate had done a scrapbook that she bought at the book fair. You know the ones where you fill in pictures and answers to the questions they ask. Well one page was Who is your V.I.P. I thought it was so cute that she put her Dad. It asked why they were your V.I.P. and she said he plays with me, hugs me, and just listed things she loved about Carl. I love their relationship and she is so lucky to have Carl as her daddy. She then tells me.. Sorry mom, I could only pick one VIP and I couldn't decide so I chose dad. It's okay Kate I am good with it :) Gotta love kids. Kate sure adds some flavor to our family.

Lasagna Soup

It is quite the gray day today...I was going to make Lasagna for dinner. I love the website Pinterest. It has so many good ideas for dinners, homes, projects, crafts, treats, quotes, etc...I love it. I ran across this picture above and thought it looked so good. Well tonight I just made up my own recipe and it was Delicious!!! So I thought I would share!!!

1 pound Hamburger

2 T. Olive Oil

1/2 c. Chopped Onions.

1 T garlic

Salt and Pepper

I browned these ingredients together....

In a big soup pan I started boiling..

3 cans chicken broth

1 jar traditional Prego Spaghetti Sauce

Once I browned and seasoned the meat I added to the soup mixture. Then added like 8 lasagna noodles and cooked them with the soup for 10 min. I took my kitchen shears and cut the noodles up.

I mixed 1 tub cottage cheese and 2 cups shredded cheese together in separate bowl.

Add a dollop of the cheese mixture into the individual bowls. Mix and eat. I served biscuits and green beans on the side...

This was SO good and SO easy! Enjoy!

Basement!!!

I cannot believe I haven't posted pictures of our basement! Carl and I started working on finishing 2 rooms, a bathroom, and a landing at the bottom of our stairs on January 1st! It took us about 4 months to finish. I couldn't believe how many steps were involved in this process. I was the general contractor (haha). I really enjoyed hiring people for each step! Now I am ready to move on to the other half of our basement in the next 6 mo. I am a little burned out right now! It was so much easier to hire things out. We did do the framing (or Carl I should say) and the painting. Which if I were to do it over, I would have hired out the painting. You have to paint the trim, doors, ceilings, and walls. BUT, you have to prime it first and paint flat paint on the ceiling and semi-gloss paint on the trim....etc....It was a huge PAIN!! We rented a sprayer for the ceiling and doors and that helped a ton. It was so fun to finally put color on the walls! I love having this part finished and it looks so good! This picture above is of our landing. I had my trim guy put in a built in bookshelf to not waste any space! I love having it. I am not done organizing or decorating but you get the point....

I put this cute sconce on the wall and plan to put them throughout the basement.... You can't tell from the picture but it is a cute linen material..

The bathroom...I had a vision for this and I love the way it turned out. I really wanted white subway tile in the shower (out of stock) and the glass tiles intermixed. It took a month to get the materials in, but I was patient because this is what I wanted! It was way more pricey but it looks so good.

I love hooks in the kids bathrooms..I love the cute gray shower curtain too..Very boy...

We bought Austin and Blake bed frames for their new rooms. And bedding. I love them. My boys are OBSESSED with BYU, as you can tell. My friend Joy made me this cute vinyl lettering. It turned out perfect. I haven't finished decorating their walls yet. This is Austin's room above. We painted it blue and did a checkerboard of White/Blue behind the bed...

Blake chose green for his room. So I found a bedspread that pulled in blue and green (the blue for the Y). I got him a nightstand and matching dresser in black. As well as black curtains..

All of my kids have their own rooms for the moment. It is really nice. I will post pictures of Kate and Ryan's room that I redid as well. We moved Ryan into Kate's room and Kate into Austin and Blake's room. It was kind of sad separating Austin and Blake since they have shared a room their whole life! Austin will be a teenager in a few months and I think was ready for his own room. When Chase is old enough I will put the two younger boys together, but for now it's so nice!

Uncle Lowell

My Uncle Lowell was such a great person and such an example to Carl and I. He had a gift for listening to others and being compassionate and kind. I loved his love for his family, yard work, the gospel, his country, his job, and many other aspects of his life... He always made Carl feel welcome at any family gathering and they spent lots of time talking about different things. He just had a way with people in making them feel loved and like they were important. I am grateful to be his niece and that I was able to partake of his goodness! He will definitely be missed. We love you Uncle Lowell!!

G. Lowell Wright 1948 ~ 2011 Gordon Lowell Wright, our beloved husband, father, patriarch, friend and brother, passed away on June 27, 2011 after a year-and-a-half battle with appendicealcarcinoma. Lowell was born November 29, 1948 to Gordon L. and Melva Thorup Wright, coming into this world with his best friend and twin brother, Layne. At BYU he met his next best friend and sweetheart, Elaine Tenney, and they were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with six wonderful children, and Lowell left this world surrounded by his family, who lovingly cared for him throughout his illness. They were all strengthened by your many prayers and loving service in their behalf. Lowell was an Eagle Scout, Sterling Scholar in music from Jordan High, missionary in the Brazil North Mission, Sergeant in the Air National Guard, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Russian from the U of U. He was also honored with scouting's Silver Beaver award. Lowell devotedly served the Lord throughout his life in many church callings, including Bishop, Scoutmaster, Mission President and Stake Patriarch. Lowell was passionate about the temple, music, sports, trains, antiques, gardening and food, but his greatest loves were the gospel of Jesus Christ and his family. In 1997 Lowell realized one of the great desires of his heart when he was called as a Mission President to open the Russia Moscow South Mission, serving with his wife and two youngest children. He loved his missionaries and the people of Russia dearly. Lowell is survived by his wife, Elaine; children: Ann Marie Hendrickson (Chad), Catherine Taylor (Eric), Jeffrey, Timothy (Lora), Erin, Christopher (Danielle), 13 grandchildren and 10 siblings. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jeffrey. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Taylorsville 23rd Ward chapel, 4932 S. 3200 W. You can visit with the family on Wednesday, June 29 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St., and one hour prior to services at the church. Ryan is constantly taking pictures of Chase. I love getting my camera and finding that he has taken a hundred pictures of him. Chase is now 8 months old and I can't imagine my life without this sweet boy. He was Heaven sent for sure!!

He started crawling at 6 mo! Crazy! I was hoping just to have him do it by 2! He is now pulling himself up on everything and eating food. He loves baby food. He has been my best eater. I'm still nursing and am actually so proud of myself. I was hoping at the beginning to just make it to 3 mo.

He started sleeping through the night a few weeks ago finally! 12 hours! I never thought it was possible to get a full night's rest. Mom's are so much better with sleep. Ryan smothers him still and Chase still laughs at him like no other! We love this little boy. He has blessed our family so much!

Don't you love me after being computed into the Fat/Bald Booth on the iphone? Gotta love it! Kill me if I ever look like this for real! About a month ago Heather decided she wanted to join Weight Watchers to lose some weight after having her baby a year ago. My mom decided to join as well to lose a few too. Well I thought what the heck I will join too. I still need to lose 10 pounds from having Chase. So I joined and am so glad I did! I have lost 8 pounds in a month and am a pound or two from pre pregnancy weight. What a great program it is!! I love everything about it. It basically teaches you portion control and I haven't felt deprived at all! I love it. I have also had some friends join too which helps us all when there is a network of people counting points :) So thank you Heather for inspiring me! It's also been fun to do it together!

Mom's 60th Bday

We had to go all out for my mom this year since it was her 60th birthday! My siblings and I put together a party for her. Originally I wanted it to be a surprise but then she started trying to put something together with us kids and I just said forget it. Plus it was at her house and her kitchen was in the middle of a remodel so I knew she would want it nice (which it was!) My sister in law Bethany made this cake for my mom with her sister Amy and it is perfect. James came up with the idea. If you know my mom she is constantly eating frozen Chocolate Chips (Nestle) and has a glass of milk. I thought it turned out so cute. My brother Kevin and I put together a video too of my mom's life with music and had that playing. Kevin also collected sweet notes about my mom that he would put across the screen with their picture. It was awesome and I think she loved it. Heather was mainly in charge of food and had the other siblings help. She did a chocolate fountain and other desserts/appetizers. I thought it was perfect.

Kevin also made a pizza as well from his store. Turned out so cute!

She had people come from all over. Family, Friends, Neighbors, Old Friends, New friends, etc. It was so fun to have everyone! We did it open house style which worked out great. We figured about 75 people came.

These girls are awesome. We have a boot-camp class Monday, Wednesday, and Friday that my mom and I have been doing for about a year and a half together. I of course don't make it as much as I'd like with a baby but these are the faithful goers. Alison, Me, Cynthia, Kami, Brittney, Sarah, and of course my mom. My mom is the oldest one there and she kicks my trash most of the time. She is tough!!

Easter was great. We always hide the kids baskets and then they have to find them. Which sometimes isn't convenient if you want to sleep in! Whispers ("Mom, the Easter Bunny came, Where's my basket?") We had dinner with my side this year and of course did the Easter Egg Hunt. I always hide a 5 dollar bill in one special egg and 5 single dollar bills in the others. Nathan found it this year!

The kids ran down from the Bonus room/Toy room to announce that Ryan had colored on the wall. I being the good mom I am said "I will look at it later, I don't want to face it right now" Well the next day I wandered up there to see what the damage really was. This is what I found. It's hard to tell in the picture but this is bead board. I couldn't even get mad at him. I just said nicely.."Well let's clean it up" So we scrubbed and tried everything to get it out. Nothing worked and luckily we had leftover white paint. So now it's back to normal. I thought Ryan did a great job actually! This is actually stamp pads that he had taken out of my office and smeared them on the wall. Gotta love kids even at 5 years old!

Pine Wood Derby

I am CubMaster in our ward...Yes you can stop laughing now. It's actually been a great calling. After getting over the initial scared to death feeling, I have enjoyed it. Like a few days before the car was going to be impounded, at like 10 oclock at night Carl and Blake put his car together. He took some old wheels off of Austin's old car and painted his like a colts car. He took 1st place overall out of 25 boys. We were shocked to say the least and it was so fun to have Blake win! Although really we could care less. Between Austin and Blake we have been to the last 4 pine wood derby's, so it was fun to win one. We found out after the derby that Blake had raced his car backwards the entire time. I guess it worked for him!

American Girl Doll Kanani

This is one of those proud mom moments!! Kate saved up 100 dollars to get Kanani (The new American Girl Doll of the year) She has been saving since last summer. I am so proud of her for not spending it on little things and keeping her eye on the prize. This is her birthday, chore, Christmas, and everything in between money! Austin turned 12 back in October! I had just had a baby so I wasn't so on top of things. Isn't he such a handsome kid! He is seriously one of my best friends. He's so easy and smart and kind to everyone around him.

Dalton, Jake, Austin, Tyler, and Noah..BFF!!! I took these boys to the Space Museum where they did a mission together. They had a great time! They came back here for some cake and pizza.

Austin and Chase (1 mo. old). My friend Amy made this yummy banana cake and let us have it. It was the best cake I have ever eaten!

Things about Austin: He loves being in A.L.L with Mrs. Gurr as his teacher. He says she is his favorite teacher that he has ever had.

He LOVES Chase so much. It's kind of cute but also annoying at times because he is always in his face. If anyone else tries to talk all cute to him, Ryan gets in front of them so Chase only sees him. He's a little obsessed. It's a good thing Chase is so easy going.

Idaho....

My brothers Greg and Scott live up in the Boise Idaho area. Greg (who is still single) asked us a few weeks before his birthday if we wanted to come up and visit him . We went last year and had a blast so we thought...sure!! It helped that my Uncle Mike had just added an indoor pool room onto his home and we were staying with him! When I was 18, I lived with them and worked. I was their landscaper (haha) but enjoyed my time on the farm and with their very close family. I had NO idea the pool room would look like this!! It was AMAZING and so much fun for all of us! Well worth the drive!

I think I would work out everyday if I had this workout room next to the pool and then could sit in the hot tub after wards and make some breakfast over in the kitchen on the other end. Just to give you an idea of how big this room is.. (4500 sq. feet!)

We went to eat at this mexican restaurant in "town" for Greg's big day..and then hit up the Dairy Queen that night after dinner

My cousin Jamie took the kids on this horse and buggy ride...How cute is that? My kids like the farm as much or more than Disneyland. They have horses, 4 wheelers, a pool, kool aid galore, sugar cereal, cookies, you name it...Sat. night we had a barbecue in the pool room and had yummy burgers, homemade french fries (straight from their potato crops), deep fried asparagus (yummy), fruit salad, and homemade raspberry ice cream. Aunt Jill is the best host and works tirelessly while we are there. We had such a great time and can't wait to go up again...

A few weeks before our 14th Anniversary, Carl came up to me and asked if he could take me to San Francisco for our Anniversary...Um..YES!! I wasn't sure how serious he was until a few days later he said he had lined his mom up to babysit...YES!! So we then started looking at flights. Luckily Carl has frequent flier miles saved up so we were able to fly for free. Chase was our little tag along and honestly it was so nice to spend one on one time with our sweet baby. Here are a few shots on the airplane. He was almost perfect on the flight...

I love this picture above of Chase holding a coffee bag. You know they love the crinkle sound when they are this age (5 mo.) We were watching BYU play against San Diego State where they got Jimmered. Even the guy at the front desk gave us a late checkout so we could watch the game and he was too. Jimmer is known everywhere!

Friday we arrived and Carl hit one of his clients for a short meeting (Safeway) and dropped me off at the mall across the street. BIG MISTAKE!! I had so much fun shopping with Chase for a couple of hours in an awesome mall! After Carl's meeting we went over to his Boss' house and he showed us his new shed he built. He then ended up riding with us into the city for dinner with his wife (Anna), him and us. I am sure they think we are crazy for having 5 kids when they only have 1 daughter who is 16. They were super great and we ended up at the Restaurant ( Paulio's) for 3 1/2 hours. Chase was so good. The food was SO good. I was in heaven. They were so great...

We stayed at the Omni Hotel which was in the financial district. It was such a great location and great hotel. We loved it! This is on Saturday getting ready to walk the fun streets of San Fran. Carl's office was pretty close to our hotel too.

We stopped in here and I got myself a yummy Panini sandwich!

Did you know San Francisco has the 2nd largest mall in the US? The Westfield Mall. It has several floors of stores. It was way fun. This picture above is at the first mall I went to. It had an H & M which I just love!

Chase and Carl before dinner. Chase loved to be carried around in the Bjorn and honestly he was like a celebrity there. It was like people had never seen a baby in their life. He definitely doesn't get that same attention here :) It helps that he is the most smiley baby and smiles at everyone!

Drove through our old turf while we were there. We lived in the East Bay for 3 years when Blake was a baby and I had Kate there. We made some of the best friends there and just feel like we are going home when we visit. I love love love the Bay Area and San Francisco so much! I just wish the housing market was cheaper! We rented this small 800 sq. foot place. We loved it though!

We stayed at a Residence Inn the second night close to our old homes. It was so great and we had some dinner at Chevy's Mexican Grill. Carl and I both love food that you can't get anywhere here. I am turning into a foodie lately!

The whole trip was just so fun. Although short, it was great to be with Carl and Chase. Carl was so kind and thoughtful the whole trip and I couldn't help but think how much fun we will have traveling the world when our kids are grown! I love him so much!

As I was walking past the computer last night, I couldn't help but read what was up on the screen. Apparently Austin adores his dad!! So do I! I thought this was about the sweetest thing I have read! I think it was for school....(the bottom list is words to describe yourself...Austin..I guess he has a pretty good self-esteem!)

Some people would say I’m like my dad or my uncle. I think I’m most like my dad, or try to be, at times. He tries to push to do better; he is strong, funny, smart and just awesome. He knows almost everything, in my perspective, and is sometimes weird. We both love to play football and basketball; he is always at my games and practices telling me what I can work on and what I can do. We also both like board games and we both are up for anything, anytime. My dad rocks!

Retreat 2011

I had the time of my life in Arizona a few weeks ago! 11 of us girls once again got together for a long weekend. Shanda, Crystal, and Rebecca were our hosts (They all live there). We stayed at Shanda's beautiful home. We stayed up till 3-4 am most nights and still didn't get all the talking in we wanted!

The first day we went to the Olive Mill. I enjoyed a delicious Pesto Panini Sandwich. We then exchanged our favorite things. The thing I brought for everyone was a nice pair of socks. I am a sock snob and hate wearing cheaply made socks. I got lots of great things in return! We mainly lounged and just ate and talked nonstop!

We went shopping on Friday all day. Cafe Rio for lunch and Nielson's Frozen Custard for dinner (how have I not discovered this place before?) We also went to Shanda's mom's house to pick out western wear for the following night at San Tan Flats where it is a country atmosphere for dinner with a live band for dancing. Shanda's family has long lines of Rodeo Queens and Parade Costumes. It was so fun to have Shanda's Mom put together outfits for us. Here is a picture of her boots...

Before we headed out to dinner, Shanda took us Horseback Riding while some of the girls laid out. 73 degrees was very much needed after being in the cold! We had a great time riding! Heather, Kathy, Me, and Shanda were in the first group.

We all got decked out and then went out. This was such a fun night. Fried Pickles were my favorite thing I ate!

We ended up on the dance floor (just us girls) the place was packed and we did this country line dance that Shanda taught us real quick. It was so fun. Needless to say we definitely stood out that night!

The last day we were waiting for flights and so Crystal took Amanda, Kacee, and I up to this cool hike. This is Kacee and I. Love that girl!

Shanda lost her baby girl twin ( Ireland) (her little boy was born at 27 weeks and is now 2) She took us to her grave and it was a very tender moment. L to R...Luci, Jami, Kathy, Crystal, Angie, Shanda (holding Quinn), Rebecca (Holding Ledger), Kacee, Me, Heather, and Amanda...BFF's for life!

The greatest part was that the morning as I was leaving I was conflicted on whether to take Chase or not. I knew if I brought him he would be miserable. He hates the car, he pukes EVERYWHERE not just a little but a lot, He would be in and out of the car, home late, etc....Plus I wouldn't sleep at all. My mom talked me into leaving him. I couldn't decide until the morning of and Carl told me to leave him. He was so sweet and took off work on Friday. My mom watched him Thursday. I left some milk in the freezer and took my pump with me and pumped 4-5 times a day. It worked out so well and Chase did great. He wanted to nurse right when I got home and I was able to get a break and sleep 8 hours straight! Carl is such a sweetheart and so easy going. I am thankful for him! I think I may be going to Arizona every January for some much needed sun! This was probably my most favorite retreat. I have never laughed so hard! Next year is too far away!

Ringing in the New Year

Christmas was great for us this year. We had the cabin the week of Christmas this year which gets tricky with 2 families that want our time. We decided to go to the cabin on Wednesday and then come home Friday for Christmas eve with my family and then head back up Christmas Afternoon. It was a lot of driving (2 hours each way) but we had a fabulous time and I wouldn't have traded it for anything. We got to do lots of cross-country skiing, sledding, snowmobiling, talking, eating, playing games, testimony dinner, and reconnecting with family. Chase slept so well up there in the dark closet with a fan. He was a champ. Our dog was especially bad this time and chewed a cross country ski pole (rented set), a cross country ski (new), a cooler handle, a bed for one of the other dogs, and who knows what else. I am at my wits end with him. Anyone want a dog?
Christmas Eve: We went and sang carols to my Dad's parents and then to Aunt Mary's for Dinner. We also did our annual tradition of singing at the hospital to patients who can't be home for the holidays. I always cry of course! Back to my mom's house we played the Game of Things...I have never laughed so hard in my life. It was so fun having Greg and Scott home from Boise. Greg played with us and I think he is now hooked to the game as well. We got to bed around 2. I love our families. Being with them is my favorite thing about Christmas..

Gifts this year were:
I wanted to mention that the kids were so cute this year. They bought gifts for everyone in the family at the dollar store and it was their idea. I got a porcelain bird figure, a pack of water bottles, spray on lotion, and a 10 pack of snickers. They were so cute thinking of each brother and sister and of course they all bought for the dog!

New Year's Eve we decided to have my family over and Trevor (Carl's brother ) and his wife Trisha since they live close to us. Everyone came and we had so much fun. Carl spent several hours putting a quiz together which consisted of : Don't forget the Lyrics, Sports, TV, Technology, Current Events, and a Just Dance Competition on the wii. We had a great time and lots of yummy food. Trevor and Trisha stayed until 4 am with me and we had such a great time talking. After they left I crawled into bed and hadn't fallen asleep yet, when Chase woke up. I ended up getting into bed at 5 am. It took until today to recover.

This year I decided to do 3 New Year's Resolutions: Physical, Spiritual, and Financial

**I am going to try and accomplish a marathon this year. I only want to do one in my life, but after watching the Biggest Loser I have realized if they can do it, I can too. I for sure will complete a half marathon but if my body holds out I am going to do the full.

**Last but not least: Finish our basement. We have already started as of Yesterday! We are framing 2 rooms right now for Austin and Blake. I am so excited!

Little Details

You know the older I get the more I forget! Like I don't remember when Ryan actually slept through the night or when I got back down to my pre-pregnancy weight with the other kids...Etc. So I wanted to write down a few things that I don't want to forget!

*Chase is waking up about once a night..I put him to bed between 7:30-8 pm and he gets up around 3-4 am and then sleeps again until 7-8 am.

*I call him munchy munch or munchy bunch. Have you seen his cheeks! Ryan calls him bunch bunch or munch bunch. Carl calls him baby grunt grunt because he makes so many noises. He gets called Chasers by everyone.

*He loves the kids and always smiles at them when they talk to him. He started smiling around week 7. He did his first real belly laugh yesterday and my heart melted!

*He weighed 11.6 at his 2 mo. appt. and was 21 3/4 inches long.

*I have lost 32 pounds so far. I gained 46 so I am getting there :) Not fast enough but I will get there!

*We haven't gotten the day schedule down

*He loves the swing and not the bouncer so much. He really dislikes his carseat and likes it only when the car is moving and sometimes he doesn't even like it then!

* I swear he pukes more than any of my other babies. I am sure I am forgetting but he drenches blankets after he eats for like 2 hours until he is ready to eat again!

*He takes a bottle great. Formula/Breastmilk he doesn't care. He just likes his food!

*He got his first ear infection at 2 1/2 mo! SAD! All of my boys have had tubes and he looks like he is on his way. Kate is my only one that didn't have a problem with her ears.

*He loves the bath and with how much he spits up I bathe him twice a day.

*He loves to be held (what baby doesn't right) but when he is hysterical and I go pick him up...He's fine! He loves being held over the shoulder the best. He is a cuddler!

*Austin is so good with him and next to me can calm him down really easily! It's so nice having a 12 year old that helps me!

*Carl is super cute with him.

*He is one spoiled baby and we all just are loving on him so much!

Blake's 10th Bday

My sweet Blake turned 10!

Classic that he is holding a football. He is absolutely obsessed with Football! He played tackle football this year much to my dismay and loved every second of it. He never complained once when he had to go to practice so much! They lost every game but he still wants to play again next year! I think it's kind of cute how much he is into it...

Celebrating at Grammy's. Also we celebrated at Grandma's too. Grammy got him a football (the one he is holding in the pic) and Grandma got him an Austin Collie Jersey (he plays for the Colts). Blake's favorite teams are BYU and The Colts! Carl and I got him Madden 2011 for the Wii to go along with the theme :)

Blake really wanted to go to Boondocks. After looking up the prices he decided to use his birthday money somewhere cheaper. So we took 3 of his friends (Brandon, Bryce, and Bridger) to Kangaroo Zoo. I was worried it might be to young for them but they had a blast. It's a place that has bounce houses everywhere. They mainly played tag. Carl and I even joined in. I would try and catch the boys and they thought it was great! We then got pizza and breadsticks (and rootbeer, Blake loves soda!) and came back to our house and let the boys play for the evening...

Missing Decorating

I feel like I'm missing my passion right now.
I enjoy changing/painting/rearranging my house. It's my hobby that I really enjoy! I am feeling the itch coming on again very soon. I have found that my "style" has completely changed from what it was 5 years ago. Unfortunately funds don't support my style change! :) A basement being finished is calling my name more! On a positive note, I am thankful that I live in a beautiful home that keeps me warm and is where I get to live with my sweet husband and children!

I haven't done very much the past year and a half..Due to that darling face above. I wouldn't change him for the world. He is 2 months in that picture. We are already approaching the 3 month mark. I cannot believe how fast time flies...At his 2 month appt. he weighed 11 lbs. 6 ounces. Isn't that amazing since he was only 6.15 at birth! I wish my fat was coming off as fast as he is putting it on. He is purely breastfed and seems to be eating creme.

Back to decorating....So I have wanted just the right thing for my front living room window. I have not had anything on them for almost 4 years. Finally I decided to just bite the bullet and get plantation shutters. I love plantation shutters! If I could have them on every window I would. I think they are timeless and beautiful but also VERY expensive. Did you know that they increase your home's value? That's what I told Carl when I presented him the idea (hehe). I love them! So I can say that is one big thing that I have done in the past year. I also had my mom wallpaper my bay window in my dining room...Pictures to come. She is very talented. Have you done anything fun in your homes recently???

Kate's 7th Birthday

I am currently missing my camera..So pictures from my iphone will have to work for now. Back in the SUMMER (I know it's a little late) Kate turned 7!! I cannot believe it's been 7 years since my sweet girl was born. She was 5 days late and came about 3 in the morning. She was her biggest at birth! 8 lbs. 5 ounces. She has been tiny ever since. When she was a baby she was never on the charts. Recently she was upset because she was being teased for being so tiny. I just feel so sorry for her :) I had my neighbor make these Tall cupcakes for her party..They were not only darling but super yummy too!

We had just seen Toy Story 3 so naturally Kate was interested in barbies again. So we got her some new ones... Including a Ken doll.

Birthday Cereal and birthday jar. I love this tradition! We had a party this year for Kate. My other camera has great pictures from it. We had a hula hoop contest, jewerly making, and having fun just being girls. Grammy even competed in the hula hoop contest and so did I (8 mo. prego) Needless to say I cannot do it like I used to and neither can my mom!

Just wanted to write a quick post and say how grateful I am...

I just had an MRI a few days ago to see if my brain lesions had changed. Can I just say MRI's are the worst!! My mom is so good and came with me to calm my nerves and talk me through it.
I got a call from the doctor and nothing has changed for 4 years!! So guess what that means! I am out of the woods! I am so happy. I think my symptoms have something to do with my hormones especially now that I am nursing again. So I am going to a hormone doctor. I feel great most of the time and am so thankful it is not a disease or tumor!

I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for watching over and protecting me every day!

Fall

It seems like Sept. and Oct. are flying by! I have been in a "homebody mood" since having the baby! It's so much work to get out the door! I prefer just sitting on the couch holding my baby and watching my house go to pot around me :) I find myself at the end of the day wondering what I got done...Mainly feeding, changing, holding, and loving on my cute baby boy. The picture above is of Chase this morning..It's dark but he found his thumb!!

Everyone tells me and Blake that Chase looks like him. He LOVES it and grins ear to ear anytime anyone says it. It is so cute..

One month old...

Carl and I were watching TV one night in the family room and we went to go to bed and found Ryan in the Entry way fast asleep. He was sure sneaky and quiet because we didn't even hear him!

Ryan LOVES Chase. A little too much sometimes. He loves to put his face in his and talk to him. I have been so pleased with how well Ryan has adjusted. He loves having him here!

I signed Kate up for a cheer clinic. Well they preformed at half time at our local high school. Sweet Sharonda offered to take the baby so I wouldn't have to take him out and the rest of us went together. It was pretty fun, except they lost to Timpview ( they both were undefeated) and it was WAY too crowded. It was fun to be together though!

Austin is growing up! He is twelve this month and he asked if we would take him and some friends to a Haunted House. So we agreed and Carl took these five to the Haunted Forest and let them be. It's so weird! Austin is such a good kid. LtoR Hazel, Trinity, Noah, Jake, and Austin...

The other kids felt like they got jipped, so we had a late-over for them at our house. Bryce, Brandon, Bridger, and Blake..They had so much fun!

Austin had to do a project and pick a 7 ancient wonders of the world. He chose the Statue of Zeus. He molded clay, baked it, painted it, hand made the chair..It was pretty impressive I had to take a picture.. Of course Carl was his side kick!

Carl's brother offered us 2 tickets to Nitro Circus last weekend. I wanted to go! Trevor and Trisha did a double date with us. It was so fun to be with them. I took the baby with me and dropped Kate and Ryan at Heather's and the boys were at the Y game with Carl's mom and went. I am so glad we had a little date night even if we had the baby with us! He was perfect and slept the whole time. It was fun. They had free food, the entertainment was awesome. Travis Pastrana is amazing!

This was our view..right on the dirt. The event was packed! After wards we made our way to Smart Cookie and enjoyed dessert with Trevor and Trish. We had a great time talking..Then they came to our house to hang out some more. We love our family!

We have had a great fall. I don't get very much sleep at night but that is to be expected and really when you get up with Chase he's so adorable that I just enjoy squishing on him and kissing him to death. I am so in love with that boy!

Welcome To The World Baby Chase!

We had quite the day. My mom came with me to the hospital by 7 am. They started me around 9 am. Carl got the kids off to school and then headed over. I got the call from the nurse at 6:15, she said to be there by 7. That gave me about 15 min. to get ready. So I left my hair wet. I hate my hair wet! It drives me crazy! So Heather came to my rescue with a hair dryer later on.

My sweet sisters came after noon and were pretty much there until Chase FINALLY decided to make his appearance at 10:12 pm! My mom kept saying "When she goes, she's going to go fast!" For some reason this was my longest labor to date. The Dr. said a lot of times on 4th or 5th babies they take longer because of age and the uterus being thicker etc. I don't know if he was trying to make me feel better or what. I was a little disappointed because my Dr. (Dr. Jones) got off at 6 and so I was delivered by his partner Dr. Watabe. He was so nice and great though so it turned out good.

We had lots of visitors! The day of the birth we had Aunt Mary, Shannon, Sarah, Bekah, Mom, Cathy, Shauna, Heather, and Bethany. After he was born Trevor and Trisha surprised us and showed up. I was so exhausted that night I don't remember half of it! Chase came out crying for about 10 minutes and has been content ever since! He is such a joy!

My smallest baby yet. Of course he was a week early, that always makes a difference. He was borderline of being 7 lbs. even. I love this size because I didn't have to have any repair work done! Glorious! He was 18 inches long...A little shorty!

Poor baby had to be under lights for 8 days! So that meant driving back and forth (25 min) each way to the hospital to have his foot poked and scrapped, it was so sad. He started the week not crying but then by the end he had had it. We called him our glow worm! When I asked the nurse what was the big deal she said in some cases it can cause Mental Retardation, Health problems, and death. Okay then, I guess I will stay on top of it!

Some other things from the whole experience I want to document are my mom dancing several times during the day to her ring tone that Carl downloaded for her "Good Morning" Ba Ba Ba .....

These first few weeks are always an adjustment. Between Jaundice, Nursing troubles, and having 4 other kids, it's definitely rocked my world. I do have to say that I am so extremely grateful that I fought for this baby ( not literally), but really we would have been done if it wasn't for me. This baby is a blessing and such an angel. I am eternally grateful for him and that he is in our family!

Ryan and I just after he was born....

It's 3:30 a.m. and I can't sleep. It almost feels like I'm a kid again and it's Christmas tomorrow or that I am going to Disneyland..I have those jittery, anxious, excited, nervous, feelings going on. The sad part is, I NEED the sleep since I am giving birth to my last baby starting in about 3 1/2 hours. I really can't believe this is the last night I will ever be pregnant again. On one hand I am so happy to not have to do this again, but on the other it's so weird to not ever do it again. I am trying to enjoy these last few kicks and the hiccups the baby often gets.

I haven't done this for almost 5 years. I have been pregnant since Christmas and it feels like it's been a long time, but at the same time so short.

I know my life will change forever in just a day from now and I will be holding my sweet baby. A pure miracle from my Heavenly Father. I have mixed emotions. I am sad Ryan will no longer be my baby. It always changes the dynamics of things when you add another child. I love my family of four now. I know that this baby is meant to be in our family and that he will bring us all so much joy.

I am nervous to bring another child into this world with how terrible it seems at times. At the same time there is so much good!

As far as stats go..I have gained 45 pounds. Not uncommon for me. The least amount I have gained is 40. I have retained so much water this time around...I am sure that's due to being the end of summer. My toes and fingers look so different.

Today I got all the laundry folded and put away, the rest of my thank you notes out, Went to Costco and had a full cart when I left to stock the shelves of my home, and tried to clean up whatever else needed cleaning.

Carl had given me a gift certificate for Mother's Day for a housecleaning company. Well I saved it until last week and used it. A team of 5 came in and cleaned all 3 of my bathrooms and floors in an hour. It made me so happy! They did deep cleaning in the bathrooms and it made me so grateful that they could get it done so quickly. I wish they came all the time!

These are my thoughts tonight. I can't wait to meet my little Angel tomorrow and can't help but think that Grandpa Wes will be his guardian angel. I miss him dearly. I pray that all will go smoothly and that I will have a healthy happy baby boy to post pictures of soon!

Back to School

I may get caught up on my blogging now that the kids are back in school! The kids were so excited to go back..Which means that they got up at 6:30 am. even though their bus didn't come until 8:45! I actually got up and made a hot breakfast...which never lasts...They will be eating cereal tomorrow I am sure...Another thing this year is I am just doing school lunch. Which I normally end up doing but always start off with good intentions of making home lunch...This year it's all in the budget and I couldn't be happier about it!

The kids were at the bus stop a half hour early..I was there about 20 min. early. Good thing I had some good friends to talk to. It was a beautiful morning!

4th of July ~ McCall

My Mother in Law took most pictures on this trip. I need to get them from her. I took only a few...I am a slacker these days! The kids LOVED the tube. Kate with her cousins Sadie and Hannah, couldn't get enough.

One day we went canoeing and also rented Paddle Boards. It was SO fun! I even did it in my 7th month pregnant state. This is what I wanted to do in Hawaii but never did. Blake is a pro right here! Austin wants to rent one just for him next year...

Kate and Rivers. Don't you love the teeth phase at this age! I think Rivers helped Kate pull this tooth out in McCall and they handmade a tooth fairy box. Thank goodness the tooth fairy found us!

Austin got up wakeboarding! Takes after all his uncles...

On the 4th we went down to the boat dock and watched fireworks over the lake and then came back to our condo and had a huge group come watch Carl light fireworks off. Of course they were just the boxed ones but the kids loved it!

I actually got to read on this trip. I read Hunger Games and Carl read this book called Survivor's club. He kept telling me stories throughout the week of how people survived this and that. Pretty interesting....

I decided to be a little creative on this trip and made this fruit pizza on the fourth. I thought it turned out so cute and was super yummy!

We were there for 10 days. We went to the hot springs, Carl went biking with his brothers at Brundage, We had a girl's lunch and shopping, Carl and I went out with Steph and Scott to Bistro 45 and had yummy panini sandwiches, we hung out a ton at the beach and pool, a little boating for me and a lot for the rest of my family, lots of yummy food, Mafia once again, Scott gathering troops at midnight to go jump in the lake, Carl's cousins in town from Florida (Mark and Stephanie and their mom's side of the family) Picnic in Ponderosa, I am sure I am forgetting something!...Good times!

I am way behind on posts, so I am going to play catch up the next week. In June my mom and dad rented a beautiful cabin up in Wahlsburg..(I had NEVER been there before) It was a VERY small town and such a beautiful area. We had so much fun with my family and had such a relaxing fun week. We did a bonfire at night and of course Ryan loved it!

The kids hiked up to Lizard Rock probaly 10 times a day. They were so worn out by the end of the day and so were the dogs! Carl and Mike went with them on this trip. Someone even spotted a bear on one of the trips :)

We took Chaco up to the cabin with us. I was worried at first but he ended up being a perfect dog! No fence, attention all day, hiking, playing with 3 other dogs! He was in heaven! When we got home he didn't eat or drink for a day. He was so depressed. My nieces Jenna and Katrina played with the dogs all day everyday!

The cousins loved playing together. Here they are playing games on the front porch. We all took a turn to make dinner. James spoiled us one night with a 6 course meal that he had the kids serve to us. He also made a quiz about my family that was so funny! My brothers Scott and Greg also got to join us for the weekend. I obviously didn't get any photos of them! I hope we get to go back next year!

I have to admit..I'm kind of a birthday diva. I love my birthday and love to be spoiled! It's the ONLY day you don't have to share with anyone else..(I guess unless you have a spouse, child, or sibling with your same birthday) I do on occasion have to share my birthday with all the father's out there for Father's Day. Even then, my birthday comes first :)

I am obviously late on this post but I didn't want to forget what a great day/weekend I had. Carl and I had a great Saturday night date to start out the festivities..We went to PF Chang's for dinner ( I forgot how great their food is!) and then shopping afterwards. Carl bought me this cute purse from Tai Pan and this cute wallet to match at Macy's. Have I ever told you I love purses and wallets? I love them... I also bought myself this earring organizer off of ebay for myself. I have been looking for something to organize my earrings with. I love it!

Sunday we had a birthday celebration at Carl's parents home. I got spoiled! Fun gifts and food with great company. Everyone is so generous.

Monday night I get together with Friends late and we watch the Bachelorette. Well after it was over at like midnight, my friend Lora and Annette took me to breakfast at IHOP. It was so much fun! I stumbled through the door around 3 am and slept in the next morning. Carl and the kids came in and sang Happy Birthday with breakfast in bed. My friends also planned a lunch for me and I of course got spoiled there as well. Carl had the kids all day so I was just free to do whatever. I went with my mom and Heather shopping for the rest of the afternoon and then met up with all of my family plus Shannon at Brick Oven. This is one of my all time favorite places to eat! We had a great time. When I got back Carl had strawberry shortcake and we celebrated with my little family. I seriously got so many things from family and friends I felt so loved on my birthday! I don't know if this one can be beat. Thank you to all of you for loving me despite my weaknesses and spoiling me on my birthday!

California

We just got back last week from a wonderful relaxing vacation to Southern California. We stayed in the Worldmark in Oceanside. My brother Kevin and his family own the timeshare and we split the place with them. I was a horrible picture taker on this trip but I did get a few. We spent almost everyday at the beach. It's so soothing to me. The weather wasn't the greatest beach weather, but the kids didn't seem to mind! Here is Brevin (my nephew) with Austin and Blake. They built a ton of sand castles/holes/creations!

Austin is our ocean boy. He spent like 3 hours a day in the ocean and loved every second of it. He didn't care that is was cold! We rented a boogie board that the kids had fun on.

Blake and Ryan mostly hung out on the beach. Blake is my cautious one and a little afraid to be sucked out into the ocean!

Carl is so cute when he surfs. I love the wetsuit and surfboard. I think if we lived in So. Cali he would be a surfer boy...

On our way down to Cali we stopped in Mesquite at a nice big park that was empty and had some dinner.

This seems to have happened a lot on the trip. Ryan if he had to go to the bathroom on the beach would walk to the shoreline drop his pants and pee in the ocean. He didn't get the concept of just peeing in your pants in the ocean. I was so embarrassed and pretended he wasn't my kid when he did this!

I love my kids! They are at such fun ages...

We can't ever go to California without going to Disneyland. Sadly I forgot my camera but took a few on my phone. I chose Wed. to go thinking that it would be the least crowded. The schools down there aren't out yet. Well it was so busy! Lots of field trips of the schools there. I think next time I really will go off season. We still had a great time. Carl and the 3 oldest stayed until closing (11 pm) and Bethany and I took the little ones home about 9. I love Disneyland!!

We wanted to visit the San Diego Temple while there. Well this is what it looks like now. They are doing some repair work because of leaks.

One of the days we went down to San Diego to Balboa Park and La Jolla Shores. We found this cool statue while there and the kids loved climbing on it!

We took the kids to La Jolla Shores after Balboa Park. I love that place! Probaly my favorite part of San Diego. We played lots of Hearts and Settlers with Kev and Beth at night in the condo. My friend Cortney and her husband Steve happened to be staying just a few doors down from us in the condo so it was fun to see her. We did a little shopping and just mainly lounged at the beach, pool, and hot tub. What a great vacation!

My cousin Sean (25 yr. old) passed away last Sunday. It was a shock to the family because on Friday he was told he had 2-3 months to live and then died a few days after that. He has been fighting cancer for 2 1/2 years and got Leukemia on top of the other cancer. He had such a great attitude and fight for life. He married his sweetheart Karen. They had been dating 4 months when he originally found out he had cancer. She has been a great support to him! She is now 4 months along with twins.

Retreat

Luci and I were the hosts here this year. We had 8 (7 friends & 1 Baby Blake) people fly in from Arizona, California, Texas, Vegas, and Virginia. A few from each state it seems like. Here we are waiting for Amanda to arrive. Poor girl, she flys the farthest and has a delayed flight! We didn't seem to notice since we were chatting away! It ended up being 10 girls this year after Jen joined us on Friday. The girls were great to work around me this year. We had plans to fly to Arizona this year and then my sister scheduled her induction for Claire the same weekend. I wanted to miss the least amount of time I could for the retreat so arrangements were made and we changed it to Utah. I missed out on a few hours of shopping on Friday to be with Heather for her birth but other than that I got to be with my most favorite women...

We did A LOT of talking! Holy cow, Thurs. we had a pajama day and just lounged at Angie's parent's cabin ALL DAY! I believe we talked from 8:30 am to 2 am when I went to bed. Others were up to see the sunrise. We did take a break to have dinner that night and some took a little walk. We did questions in the jar and and some great advice was given in every aspect of my life! Heather and Jen above...We had some good conversations around this table.

Kathy had a baby 7 weeks ago (Blake) and brought him with her. It was fun to have a little baby to love on and he is so adorable. I couldn't believe Kathy was already back in her jeans. She looked fabulous!

I miss Angie since she moved to Texas. She is simply the best.

Amanda in the middle with no apron on is my talented friend. I seem to have a few of those! We did a favorite things on Thursday and she had made us all custom aprons to fit our personalities! They were ALL so cute! I love mine! I gave Burt's Bees lip gloss. I think I need to step it up next year!

We went to The Red Iguana on Saturday. It was DIVINE!! I love mexican food and this place was so authentic and good!

Loved this quilt that we saw at the fabric store. I was a total slacker in taking pictures but atleast I got a few. I had the water sickness at the same time so I didn't feel 100 percent normal. I left thinking how lucky I am to have these girls in my life. They are such an example to me! I learn so much from them and I know they will be a huge part of my life for years to come. Luckily I only have to wait 8 months to see them again in Arizona!

End of the school year....

Man, the end of the school year gets so busy with all the kids events. Yesterday, my mom, Carl, Ryan, and I attended Blake's Goodtown Gala. His teacher Mr. Goodman has been a fantastic organized teacher! We got very lucky to be in his class. The program they put on was fantastic! Here is Blake above getting the responsible award in his class...

Earlier that morning we attended Ryan's preschool graduation (he actually is just going into her class next year except 3 days!) Ryan and Mrs. Carrie...I absolutely love her. All the kids have had fantastic teachers this year!

Austin was able to be a part of the Hope of America concert. I had missed the fact that it was a 5th grade thing and not a choir thing. He wanted to be part of it and I brushed it aside thinking it was one more thing to do until he came home the night before and said he didn't need to go to school. Me "Why?" Well all the kids are going to practice for the Hope of America concert at the Marriott Center. Me " Are you the only one missing?" He said he and one other kid. Well after figuring out that this was a great thing to be a part of and that is was for the whole 5th grade I emailed his teacher to see if he could be a part the next day. (I emailed her at 10 pm) Luckily he got to be a part the next morning and performed the next night for our family and Grammy and Grandma showed up with last minute notice. I can't believe we almost missed this, it was fantastic! Now I know that all my kids will be doing this when they get in the 5th grade. Austin is a red stripe in the middle section about 4 rows down from the top. I know you can spot him :) It was great to be a part and to honor America and to be Patriotic. This was right up Austin's ally. Austin also had a choir performance that I forgot my camera for! Oh well. We are loving our kids and how well they do in activities. I have been so emotional (probaly from being pregnant) seeing my kids grow up so fast and being so proud of the kids they are! I love them so much!

Claire Diane was born on May 14th around 2:25 pm. She came out weighing 6 lbs. 9 ounces and 19 inches long. She is so CUTE! Congrats to Heather and James on getting a little girl (Heather is my younger sister and has 2 boys and now little Claire) It was amazing to witness the birth of a child. A miracle.

We had a baby shower for Heather a week before the baby came. Kate and Halle were there to help hand out pink necklaces at the door and hand out the goody bags at the end. I think we wore Kate out.

These are the invitations my friend Julie helped me make. I think they turned out darling!
We also hung a clothesline across the room in Bethany's family room and hung little baby girl clothes from it with clothespins. It turned out so cute. Unfortunately I wasn't on my game to get all the people that came, but Heather was definitely spoiled and loved by so many! I am so happy Baby Claire is here and can't wait for Chase to join her!

A few of my favorite things/Gratitude

Ever since we have had our "high bed" Carl has been wanting a bench he can sit and put his shoes on. It's not something I just run out to look for, so when I went with my mom looking for furniture for her house, I saw this out of the corner of my eye. I had to get it and it wasn't expensive! Now Carl has a place to sit and put his shoes on.

We have had CHEAP vacuums since we have been married. You know the 49.99 dollar specials. Which is great and they have gotten us through 13 years of marriage just fine. I wanted to upgrade this time and decided on the Dyson Ball. I LOVE IT! It sucks everything up and does a way better job than our last vacuums. I also never have to buy bags again! Last week we also got our carpets cleaned professionally for the first time in 3 1/2 years (since we have lived here). I mean we have rented the machine from Smith's but that just doesn't cut it. I called my friend Mindy who seems to know a lot about Carpet Cleaning companies. So I called Boss Systems and they did a fabulous job! I feel like I have new carpet. Stains that I thought were stains came out. I am hooked and will now budget for them to come once a year at least!

How did I not know how great these machines are? Seriously! I am in Laundry heaven if one even exists! I get my laundry done way faster because they hold twice as much. I use way less detergent and fabric softener and I also save on Energy. It's one of those things where once you have them you don't know how you lived without them before. Now if I could get a machine that folds and puts the laundry away!

Our landscapers who put in our front yard before we moved in were horrible. We pretty much have had to replace everything they did. Well they planted 2 maple trees here almost 4 years ago. Well one died this year and the other looks like it was planted yesterday. So Carl and I ripped them out and planted flowering pear trees. They look better freshly planted than our Maple trees ever looked. I love Costco and getting a good deal!

Despite how cold it has been around here....I still have a few flowers here and there. I love when my flowers come back every spring. It makes me so happy!

Ryan had preschool this afternoon. So I was able to clean up the mess that was previously posted in last nights post. It's amazing what I can get done when I am home alone and the kids are all at school! I decided to put half of his clothes up in the top of his closet to help with clean up on a daily/hourly basis.

I also finally got my bathroom clean. Don't you hate when you have something that needs to be done nagging at you! The truth is..I have hired one housecleaner my whole marriage to come once when I was going through all that testing 3 years ago. She came and left and I was disappointed! I am a picky cleaner and notice details. I used to go help my mom as a teenager clean homes in Park City so learned all the ropes when I was young. So when I clean a bathroom it's on my hands and knees cleaning the floor, baseboards, behind the toilet, etc. I am happy to say that it's done for now!

I have been so moody since being pregnant. One minute I am happy and loving and the next I am crying and irrational. I am so thankful for my husband and how EASY he is to live with and how EASY he is to love. I appreciate him so much and love how he loves me even when I am moody. He is so low maintenance and I can be so high maintenance. A few months back he asked me what was bothering me about the house (cleaning wise) and so he had me write him up a list of things. I titled it Carlita's list. He really took the list and checked things off as he got them done. He is a hard worker. If he's not working for his job he is working on the yard or cleaning the dishes after dinner or a bathroom, laundry or whatever needs to be done. I love him for this and I definitely got the better half in this marriage!

Last but not least I am grateful for family and friends. My friend Laura brought me over a bucket of Maternity Clothes and Shannon my cousin also brought me maternity clothes and a bucket of little boy clothes. They are so nice and it means a lot to have people surrounding me that care for me and my family. I also asked a friend (Julie) to help with my sister's shower invitations and she not only volunteered but had us over to her house and designed the cards! I actually took a picture of them to show when I do a post on Heather's Shower. She let me use all her stuff (paper, glue, brad's etc.) I am so grateful for good friends how are always there for me! I love you all!
